Emmy Award.
And the Emmy goes to....
On September 22, 2013 the 65t Primetime Emmy Awards honoring the best in American Television took place in the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles, California.
With over 25 programs and more than 60 nominations between acting, programs, directors, and other departments of the television industry, the Emmy awards took place in California, giving this time a big surprise, Netflix. Yes, that one webpage where we all (or at least the ones who have a membership) spend a lot of time watching movies, or TV Series, was nominated 14 times for their own produced web-series: House of Cards, Arrested Development and Hemlock Grove. The website won three awards in the categories of:
- David Fincher's Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series, for directing the pilot episode "Chapter 1" of House of Cards (Series produced & Distributed by Netflix)
- A couple of Creative Emmy Awards. (This make chapter 1 of House of Cards the first Emmy-awarded webisode.)
Have you ever watched House of Cards?
If you haven't, here is a little more info on the webisode that was recently awardaded with an Emmy
(Information extracted from IMDB)
House of Cards is an American political drama series, the plot is about a congressman that works with his equally conniving wife to exact revenge on the people who betrayed him. The serie stars with Kevin Spacey, Michael Gill and Robin Wright among others.
It is important to mention that this webisode has grossed an estimated $60,000,000 on the box office and due to the unique creative freedom permitted filmmakers to write/direct/produce withouth undue supervision or second-guessing, major factor that drew Oscar nominees like David Fincher, who later on ended winning the Emmy Award for directing the first episode.
The serie was first aired in February 1, 2013 through Netflix.
Here is a link of all the nominees for the Emmy Awards and of course the winners...just in case you missed it.
