The world of film may be overwhelming for the people trying to get in but, once you are in, it becomes like a family and you are one step closer to making it big.
There are several important roles that are crucial to the success of the final product. Among the most important is the producer role. The producer oversees the film during the whole project. From the inception of the idea, to the rights for producing a feature film, through the three stages of production and its delivery to a film studio for its distribution, the producer is monitoring progress. The producer would even take risks by investing money of his/her own, mostly in the pre-production stage, for the sake of the film. They are also in charge of hiring keys roles for the film such as the director, casting director, UPM, line producer etc.
The film producer oversees the film, but who oversees the producers? Fortunately the PGA (Producers Guild of America) is the non-profit guild inside film that represents, protects and promotes the members of the producer’s team in the world of film, TV and new media.
With more than 5,000 members strong, the PGA facilitates its member’s health benefits, encourages enforcement of workplace labor laws, and supports other advocacy efforts. Most importantly the PGA works with other guilds, studios, networks and companies to promote the general welfare of the industry and its content.
The producing teams overseen by the PGA are those producer in charge of the welfare and content of the motion picture, to mention some of the members of the producing team we can call:
2. Producers
3. Co-Executive Producers
4. Supervising Producers
5. Senior Producer
6. Line Producer
7. Co-Producer
8. Associate Producer
9. Production managers
